I am very lucky living in Valencia because the Mediterranean sea is one of the most beautiful landscapes you can find all over the world. However, it has changed hugely during the years. In the fist picture you can see two kids talking in the shore of the beach peacefully, as the painter says in the title of the piece probably the are living a summer affair. It was 1908.

Next picture shows a different way to see the same shore: families sunbathing, trash, boats...
Merello is a completely different artist than Sorolla but they have chosen the same topic.

Now, everyone who is reading this blog's entry is going to think about their summer vacations. Have you gone to the beach? If not, can you think about the last time you went to the Valencian beach? How do you remember it?

Keep your idea in mind since I write about my favourite spot in the world, Patacona Beach. I have been going there all my life. The picture has changed a lot during these 35 years. I love the lanscape however a makeover is necessary for this beach because pollution, plastics and excessive building construction is ruining the place.
Can you draw the beach that you remembered from the summer? Is Valencia a sustainable city? Do you find easy not to pay attention to plastic, dirtiness or any other improvable aspects of the shore? How can you contribute to finish with the pollution and plastic problem?
